One of the main impacts of stress on dental health is tooth grinding—medically known as “bruxism”—which can cause headaches, jaw soreness, and chipped or broken teeth. Some people grind their teeth unknowingly while sleeping, but this can be remedied with a dental night guard. Remedies for stress include physical therapy, exercise, muscle relaxers, and counseling. Periodontal disease—caused by an infection of the gums—has also been linked to stress. More information on stress and oral health is shared in the video.
